Parallel Universe part 5

See then Exist?

Kaku mentions an interesting example in his book, Parallel Worlds. Here is the story:

Erwin Schrodinger proposed a physics experiment. He put a cat in a sealed box. There is also a poison bottle in it also. Before he opened the box, he proposed the cat was alive and dead at the same time.

"Whenever guests came over to his house, he would say: look at the moon. Does it suddenly spring into existence when a mouse looks at it? Einstein believed the answer was no. But in some sense, the answer might be yes."
Parallel Worlds, pg158, Michio Kaku.

moon
Keeping this in mind, next time when you are not looking at the moon, the moon might not exist at all...

Are We Alone in the Universe?

Our galaxy is big and seems infinite. However, is the Earth the only planet in the Universe that is suitable for life?

galaxy

According to a New York Times articles Hunting for Life in Specks of Cosmic Dust There are some requirements for life on a planet:

  • the home star has to be far enough from the galactic centerto be away from lethal black hole pyrotechnics, for example, but not so far into the galactic sticks that stellar evolution has not yet produced enough of the heavier elements like oxygen and iron needed for planets and life
  • its planet has to have liquid water
  • a magnetic field to keep away cosmic rays

If You Meet the Other You

If you meet the other you in a parallel universe, what will you do? Will you ask how you are doing at your business in other universe while you are still in college getting an undergrad degree in this universe? Will you say hi to your spouse in other universe while you are still single here? If I have a chance, I will ask what kind of career the other I am doing, since I made a decision on my major several years ago.

Another Copies of You in the Universe?

What most of us believe right now is that there is only one Earth in the Universe. However, according to the String theory, there exists another planet that is exactly the same of the Earth, which means that there is another copy of you in that planet living a slightly different life. What's your thought on that?
